Building a Vision Together – what can social enterprise do for Wales?

buy social

Wales already has a vibrant and diverse social enterprise
sector, but it could do more. We think that Wales should be one of
the best places to start and grow a social enterprise and be part
of and help build a movement for change.

To do this a number of Social Enterprise support organisations and
networks have come together to kick off the process of developing
an ambitious new vision and action plan for social enterprise in
Wales for the next ten years.

This vision and action plan needs to be ambitious and stretch us
all as social entrepreneurs, grassroots practitioners, leaders,
support providers, investors and Government.

But as a social movement, we cannot produce this alone. We
need your help in setting the vision for our collective future and
helping us to produce a roadmap to get there.

We need this process to be a shared endeavour, involving people
and organisations throughout Wales, and culminating in a vision
that we can all share and actions that we can all sign up to
delivering.

For the purpose of this exercise we are defining a social
enterprise as a business with primarily social objectives whose
surpluses are principally reinvested in the business or in the
community, rather than being driven by the need to maximise profit
for shareholders and owners.

The organisations involved are: DTA Wales, Social Firms Wales,
UnLtd, WCVA, Antur Waunfawr, Coalfields Regeneration Trust and the
Wales Co-operative Centre, with the support of the Welsh
Government.
