‘For many years, scientists have warned of the effects of global warming and with these effects becoming increasingly evident, it is clear that we need to act now. In 2015, 195 countries signed up to the Paris Climate Change agreement.

‘This agreement not only sets the context for how these 195 countries will together tackle the causes and consequences of climate change, but also sets the context for the decarbonisation of the global economy.

‘Here in Wales, we have a number of pieces of legislation which will help us to work towards the plan for a zero carbon economy and society. The Environment Act (Wales) 2016 places a duty on Welsh Ministers to set targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and also to set carbon budgets.’
