European funded project wins big at Youth Excellence Awards 2019

Volunteering
Matter’s Activ8 project
is a peer-led project that supports
young people aged 18-24 across South Wales to develop skills,
confidence and knowledge to help them progress into volunteering,
education, employment or training. It is funded through Active Inclusion’s
Include strand
, which includes projects that focus on engaging
with participants that are furthest from the labour market.

The Awards, run by Welsh Government, celebrate outstanding youth
work projects, youth workers and those involved in youth work
across Wales. Welsh Government said of Activ8: “The judges felt
that the project was a great example of what can be achieved
through peer-to-peer mentoring.”

Sianne Morgan, Youth Development Manager for Volunteering
Matters said:

‘this is a remarkable achievement for Activ8 and the fantastic
achievements of young people through peer support and intervention.
I’m so proud of all our young people on this project and the way
Activ8 is shaping the future of youth engagement into education,
employment and training’.
