Free digital skills training delivered in Welsh

Newid is running free digital skills training for voluntary organisations that provide advice, support and guidance to voluntary groups and charities.

As part of Newid: Digital for the third sector, we are excited to announce an upcoming programme of free digital skills training for voluntary sector membership, infrastructure and umbrella organisations.

Participants will gain skills, tools and knowledge that will enable them to better support the organisations they work with on a wide-range of digital topics. The training will include a train the trainer element to ensure that skills and knowledge can be shared within organisations and across the voluntary sector.

WHO IS THIS TRAINING FOR?

This training is aimed at staff who work for voluntary organisations that provide advice, support and guidance to other voluntary groups and charities. This includes organisations that have a network of branches.

Qualifying organisations:

  • Provide advice, guidance or training to charities and other voluntary groups, or to branches within the same organisation.
  • Work primarily with charities or voluntary groups.
  • Want to improve the level of digital advice and support they provide to the charities they work with.
  • Consider themselves an infrastructure, membership, network or umbrella organisation.

WHAT WILL THIS TRAINING INVOLVE?

The training will be delivered by Big Learning Company, who have 15 years of experience developing and delivering digital learning programmes across all sectors in Wales. The training will include:

  • A series of workshops delivered online by digital training specialists.
  • Accompanying online learning materials and additional course content.
  • Resources to support continued learning such as helpful ‘how to’ guides.
  • A train the trainer session.
  • Continued support and opportunities to share experiences through a pan-Wales digital network on The Knowledge Hub.

COURSE TIMETABLE AND WORKSHOP DETAILS

Workshop 1 – Effective digital communication and digital collaboration fundamentals

Friday 17 June 2022
9.30 am – 12 pm

In this session, participants will develop the skills to communicate effectively with others whilst using digital platforms. Different communication tools will be explored, whilst considering barriers and accessibility needs.

Workshop 2 – User Experience design*

Monday 20 June 2022
9.30 am – 12 pm

In this introductory session to UX Design, participants will gain insight into what makes a user journey successful and how to meet user needs.

Workshop 3 – Social Media Technologies*

Friday 24 June 2022
9.30 am – 12 pm

In this session, participants will explore the power of social media and how it can be utilised to improve and develop your online presence.

Workshop 4 – Digital Problem Solving

Friday 8 July 2022
9.30 am – 12 pm

In this session, participants will explore how digital tools and technologies can streamline and improve upon everyday tasks.

Workshop 5 – Creating Digital Processes

Friday 15 July 2022
9.30 am – 12 pm

In this session, participants will learn how digital processes can be used to improve on the efficiency of working practices. We will explore how to identify and utilise the most effective tools for each key process.

Workshop 6 – Introduction to Cyber Security*

Monday 18 July 2022
1 – 3.30 pm

In this session participants will learn about the fundamentals of staying safe as a computer user. We will share information about common cyber threats, how to keep accounts and credentials safe, and how to avoid common, yet dangerous threats and malicious scams.

Workshop 7 – Managing Digital Data*

Tuesday 19 July 2022
1 – 3.30 pm

In this session, participants will gain an understanding of GDPR legislation and how information can be kept safe.

*This session includes a specialist guest speaker, this part of the session will be delivered in English.

If you are unable to attend a session, recordings of the workshop will be available for participants to access.

LIMITED SPACES

This is a pilot training programme with limited spaces available. We aim to provide places for as many organisations as possible on this training and hope to be able to offer up to two spaces per organisation. If we are oversubscribed the number of places per organisation may be reviewed and a waiting list started based on a first come first served basis.

Newid: digital for the third sector is an exciting pilot programme of Digital skills development and support for the voluntary sector in Wales. The programme is a partnership between ProMo CymruWales Co-operative Centre and WCVA, funded by Welsh Government and supported by The Centre for Digital Public Services.
