Help Nature Work for your Community with Local Places for Nature funding

Could your community benefit more from the natural environment? Or do you have an environmental project that needs more funds and support? Then these events and webinars are for you!

Local Places for Nature is a new Welsh Government initiative to help halt and reverse the decline in nature and to grow the environment for the benefit of future generations. Aimed at community organisations and town and community councils, there is a range of funded support from Keep Wales Tidy and the National Lottery Community Fund with support and advice from your Local Nature Partnership and Local Environment Records Centre.

These free events are a chance to meet the funders, hear more about the support available in your area, ask questions about projects and to share ideas and experiences with others.

  • 9 March 17.00 – 18.30, Britton Ferry
  • 16 March 17.30 – 19.00, Blaenau Ffestiniog
  • 26 March time TBC, Caerphilly   

Webinars:

  • 10 March 14.00 – 15.00, Presentations in English
  • 17 March 14.00 – 15.00, Presentations in Welsh

More on Local Places for Nature

The Local Places for Nature scheme – a brand-new initiative, funded by Welsh Government, that aims to create, restore and enhance hundreds of habitats across the country.  

Applications are now open to community groups and organisations looking to help reverse nature’s decline. 

To make it as easy as possible for people to get involved, there’s a choice of ‘packages’ tailored to different groups and organisations.

Each pre-paid package includes native plants, tools and other materials. Keep Wales Tidy handle the orders and deliveries, and their project officers will even provide support on the ground to help you create your new nature space.   

Their packages fall into three categories: 

There is a simple application process, and they expect lots of applicants, so please get your application in asap! The deadline for first application round is 12pm on Friday 6 March.
