Make a bigger difference as a WCVA trustee

Board w trusted charity certificate

Wales needs to be ready to tackle the challenges facing our
society head on. To do this we believe we need a focused,
empowered, and collaborative voluntary sector. We need voluntary
organisations now more than ever.

That’s where WCVA comes in. WCVA is the national membership body
in Wales and we exist to enable charities, voluntary and community
groups, social enterprises and volunteers in Wales to make a bigger
difference together.

This year we are searching for four dynamic, energetic board
members who are looking to make Wales a better place – especially
those with a financial background who can take on the role of
deputy treasurer.

What’s involved in being a trustee?

The Board of Trustees is the governing body for WCVA and is
legally and financially responsible for the organisation setting
the vision and strategic direction.

Our Board meets four times a year during office hours in Cardiff
and trustees are reimbursed for out of pocket expenses.
Successful candidates will normally be appointed for a three-year
term and can serve a maximum of nine years.

Training and support is available to all trustees and
you can find out more about being a trustee here
.

The three steps to make a nomination

Only members of WCVA can nominate people for the board (although
nominees do not have to be WCVA members themselves).

There are three main steps that need to be followed:

  1. Choose your nominees. Each member organisation may nominate up
to two people using the nomination
    form.
  2. Obtain the agreement of another WCVA member
    organisation as seconder
    (the seconder must be from
a different WCVA member organisation to that of the proposer).
  3. Ask the nominee to complete a trustee
    application form
and send it in with their
    CV.
