Update: What’s happening with Trusted Charity in Wales?
This is an update for charities in Wales that hold the Trusted Charity Mark (previously PQASSO) or are undergoing the assessment process.
As you may be aware, WCVA’s sister council in England, NCVO, has made the difficult decision to move the Trusted Charity standard to a new provider. They are in advanced discussions with their preferred provider, The Growth Company and aim to sign a full agreement with them by June 2021.
The Growth Company has no plans to significantly change the standard, pricing structure or discount offered to NCVO and WCVA members. NCVO will work with The Growth Company to make sure the standard continues to meet the sector’s needs.
NCVO has provided an F.A.Q for charities that are involved with Trusted Charity with answers to questions about what these changes mean, depending on where you may be in the process. TRUSTED CHARITY IN WALES
WCVA has been involved with Trusted Charity and, before that, PQASSO for several years. Since 2019 we have hosted the Trusted Charity in Wales Project in partnership with NCVO which has been funded by the National Lottery Community Fund in Wales. This project, which aims to promote Trusted Charity in Wales, will be ending in June 2021.
Recent research carried out by WCVA indicates that both charities and funders agree on the importance of quality assurance for the voluntary sector.
We will continue to support voluntary organisations in Wales with good governance and believe quality assurance is an important part of this. In response to the end of the project and the change of suppler, WCVA is reviewing Trusted Charity in Wales. We will be working with Richard Newton consultancy to seek the sector’s views on how to take this forward. You can find out more about the work and how to get involved here.
We will continue to work with NCVO and the Growth Company to ensure that information about the transition is shared with the sector.
