Volunteering Wales grants are back!
We’ve just re-launched the Volunteering Wales grant scheme for projects that will support positive volunteering experience, tackle barriers to volunteering and have long-term impact on the community.
The 2022-25 Volunteering Wales main grant scheme is now open to applications using WCVA’s Multipurpose Application Portal (MAP).
This year’s Volunteer Wales Main Grant scheme will focus on projects that tackle barriers to volunteering, give a positive experience for the volunteer and a long-lasting impact on the community.
Funding will be available up to £25,000 per annum, over a maximum of two years.
ABOUT VOLUNTEERING WALES GRANTS
Volunteering is one of the national wellbeing indicators tracking Wales’ progress against the Wellbeing of Future Generations (Wales) Act goals.
The Well-being of Future Generations Act (2015) aims to improve the way that Wales achieves economic, social, environmental and cultural Well-being.
Through funding organisations to support and train individuals in quality volunteering opportunities, volunteering has an immediate and long-term positive impact on the individual and community. Nationally, volunteers are vital for the delivery of voluntary organisations’ missions and values.
HELPING BOTH THE COMMUNITY & VOLUNTEERS
Previous projects have achieved significant results, not only benefitting the community during the pandemic but the wellbeing of the volunteers.
One volunteer with Caerphilly Miners Institute told us:
‘I’ve been knitting blanket rectangles since the pandemic started in March 2020. I felt quite emotional delivering nearly 50 to the Centre today, not only because the knitting was going to such worthy causes, but for its representation of the lockdowns and the limitations on our lives in that time.’
The Chinese in Wales Association has been supporting volunteers and their communities to become more resilient, for example:
‘There is a volunteer who is living in Wales for two decades but never made new friends, this befriending has improved her courage to step outside and meet people. Both the befrienders and befriendees are more resilient by learning the basics in the digital world now, like using Zoom and making online applications which were challenges for them at first.’
