The theme of the event is ‘The importance of effective
leadership and governance in challenging times’. Governance has
always been extremely important to us all in the third sector, but
at a time when we’re facing unprecedented challenges, and public
trust in our sector is declining, what role does effective
leadership and governance play in overcoming these challenges? Join
us at this year’s AGM to find out and to explore how we can
demonstrate the enormous value and contribution we make to society
in order to regain public trust.

AGM speakers will include:

  • Dr Gwenllian Lansdown, Chief Executive, Mudiad
    Meithrin
  • Dr Elinor Kapp, Trustee, City Hospice
  • Representative from the Charity Commission

The winner of the 2018 Walter Dickie Leadership
bursary
will also be announced. The bursary annually awards
£2,500 to a leader in the third sector to develop their
entrepreneurial leadership skills. Last year’s winner was
Steve Brooks of Sustrans Cymru
– he used the money to undergo a
course of study at Oxford University and visit Copenhagen to learn
about progressive city transport planning.

Following the AGM the Annual Lecture for 2018 will be delivered
by WCVA President Michael Sheen.

This event is for members of WCVA only. An invitation to our AGM
is one of the many benefits of becoming a member of WCVA – if you
are interested, please visit the membership pages.
