Welsh projects receive over £1 million from Wolfson Foundation

The Foundation, which funds across the whole of the UK and
focusses on capital projects (new buildings, refurbishments and
equipment), announced today that over 10% of all capital funding
allocated in the first half of the year has been awarded to Welsh
projects.

The projects funded in Wales cut across many of the Foundation’s
funding streams, including science & medicine, heritage and
health & disability.

Around 36% of funding in Wales was awarded to the voluntary
sector.

Voluntary organisations in Wales which have received funds
include:

• Nightingale House Hospice in Wrexham – £100,000 for the
  refurbishment of the rehabilitation and day services unit for
  outpatients
• Erddig in Wrexham – £100,000 towards the conservation of the
  State Bedroom in Erddig Hall in partnership with the National
  Trust
• St Kentigern’s Hospice in Denbighshire – £100,000 for the
  extension and refurbishment of the day therapy unit
• Chepstow and District Mencap in Monmouthshire – £60,000 for a
  café in a new community hub and headquarters providing services for
  adults with learning disabilities

‘We have worked hard to attract applications from across Wales,
and to emphasise that we wish to fund great projects wherever they
are located.

‘The projects announced today will, in a variety of ways, have a
hugely beneficial impact on the lives of people in Wales.

We may have a London address, but we want to sound the message
loud and clear: we warmly welcome applications from Wales.’
