Weston Charity Awards 2021 are nearly here

Welsh charity leaders are being encouraged to take part in this survey ahead of the launch of the scheme.

Business skills charity, Pilotlight and grant-maker, Garfield Weston Foundation are preparing to open the Weston Charity Awards 2021. Free to enter, the awards help charities to plan for sustainability and effectiveness through a year-long programme of strategic coaching from Pilotlight, and a grant from Garfield Weston.

The awards launched in 2014 and expanded to Wales in 2018. Previous Welsh winners include Cardiff City FC Community Foundation, Paul Sartori Hospice at Home, Plant Dewi and Rubicon Dance (see picture).

In preparation for the awards, Pilotlight and Garfield Weston have launched a survey which will provide vital insights into the fortunes, hopes and fears of charity leaders at this challenging time.

Last year’s report, which showed small charities’ leadership was optimistic about the future despite increased uncertainty, is available on Pilotlight’s website.

Taking roughly seven minutes to complete, this year’s survey will help respondents to think about whether they might benefit from applying for the Weston Charity Awards.

The survey will be open until Friday 9 October, and the awards will be open for applications later in the year.

As a small incentive, a donor has provided a Divine Fairtrade Chocolate Hamper, which will be won by one charity picked at random from those who take part. Respondents who consent to being reminded about the Weston Charity Awards, will receive a reminder when they open.

Alongside Wales, the regions covered by the Weston Charity Awards are the Midlands, the North West and the North East of England. Charities are eligible if they have at least one paid full-time member of staff in a leadership position, an income of less than £5m per year, and are working in the fields of welfare, youth or community.
