The Living Wage Foundation was established in 2005 as a result
of four years of community organising and protesting by community
group London Citizens. The Foundation was established to separate
the formalities of the accreditation process from its community

and since their time in the role have doubled the amount of
accredited organisations in Wales which include anchor
organisations such as the Welsh Government and National Assembly,
Cardiff Council, Cardiff University and 160 others with work
continuing to target high-profile and symbolic institutions in the
fight for fair pay and to implore others to follow suit. Visions of
a better future for Wales’ workers includes that of the Living Wage
being extended to whole cities and economies and along every stage
of supply chains.
